MONDAY: CALHOUN HAS 144 ACTIVE CASES COVID-19

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed 1,318 new COVID-19 cases and 54 additional deaths in its report on Sept. 20.

They say Calhoun has 144 active cases Monday, a number in ICUs and on ventilators.

Ritchie County has two new deaths.

The DHHR confirmed 2,320 new COVID-19 cases and 57 additional deaths in its report on Friday.

COVID-19 death rates are quickly rising in states where the vaccination rate is low, West Virginia being the least vaccinated state.

Calhoun reportedly has a number of survivors who barely escaped death, according to first and second person accounts, some reportedly left with debilitating health problems.

According to the DHHR dashboard, there are currently 21,490 active cases.
