STABBING MURDER - West Virginia State Police said two people have been charged in the death of a man who was stabbed to death during an altercation in a motel room in Jefferson County.

Charles Wilbert Cook Jr., 40, of Kearneysville is charged with second-degree murder, and Amanda Lynn Frey, 41 of Hagerstown, Md., is charged with concealment of a deceased human body, according to a news release from State Police.

The two are charged in the death of James “Jimmy” Kearns, who was reported missing on May 30. He was last seen in the Ranson area about May 25. State Police said Kerns knew Frey and Cook and was known to frequent the Motel 6 on Jefferson Terrace Road in Charles Town. Troopers believe Cook stabbed Kerns during an altercation in a room at the motel.

Frey was found July 6 in Berkeley County and was charged. Cook was also located in Berkeley County and was charged on Monday.

It was unclear where and when Kearns’ body was found.
