WV DEPARTMENT AGRICULTURE ISSUES HEMP GROWING PERMIT IN CALHOUN

(07/15/2021)
The WV Department of Agriculture has issued an Industrial Hemp License in Calhoun, with only person listed with a current permit at the end of June 2021.

Over 100 permits have been issued in WV.

The permit was issued for 3095 Russett Road, Grantsville, to Michael Carpenter.

The permit is for 10 acres.

Hemp growing appears to exclude the grower from allowing the THC content to develop, but appears to lay the groundwork for commercial cannabis development of THC later.

Unconfirmed reports indicate there were other local applicants.

THC is the main psychoactive compound in cannabis that produces the high sensation, and has been endorsed for medical purposes.

It can be consumed by smoking cannabis. It's also available in oils, edibles, tinctures, capsules, and more. Both compounds interact with your body's endocannabinoid system.

A large indoor grow operation is developing in a former grocery store complex in downtown Spencer.
