Marvin displays his giant watermelon

It was weigh-in day for the melon, coming in at 85 pounds

Now comes a really big watermelon, raised in a wet area near a small creek on Millstone.

Weigh-in day was Friday, with grower Marvin Arnold and son using an accurate hospital scale.

The melon came in at 85 pounds on the nose.

Arnold, a 51-year pipeline veteran, said he has been raising melons for about 15 years.

"The watermelons and cantaloupe I've raised are about the tastiest things you've every put in your mouth," Arnold said.

"You won't find one of these at WalMart," he concluded.
