Judge Goff sentenced a woman to jail yesterday afternoon -- a duty it was evident the judge felt loath to perform.

But the woman's own confession made it absolutely necessary for him to take such unpleasant action.

Belle Booher is the rather romantic name of the young woman.

Selling liquor without license in the wilds  of Calhoun was the charge.

She acknowledged it and said she had sold about ten gallons unlawfully this time, but had been in court before on the same charge.

She told the court that she had been in Jackson county's jail since her arrest- 50 days ago.

In reply to which county jail she preferred, she said she thought Jackson's jail was the best.  She was thereupon find $100 and ordered sent to that jail for 60 days.
