In Calhoun County, did you know of such places as Arcade, Balos, Bruin, Donze, Epperly, Gomez, Hathaway, Hattie, Haulp, Losie, or Orient?

At one time they were post offices in Calhoun County, among more than 50 listed by the US Postal Service since the 1800s.

Many of the offices were located in family homes within walking distance of customers, bur later house-to-house delivery came by horseback, then motorized vehicle.

The offices in Calhoun have now shrunk to about six, with closures now being part of postal reorganization.
