Phew! Phew! 2001
Skunks are pervading Grantsville.
Everyone from the Methodist
preacher down to us common story tellers claims to have a nest under his
domicile.
"Aunt Mag" Bennett who at 81 years is not as old
as some folks who claim less years, has killed six of the variety that
smells bad in her garden where they were killing small chickens and tearing
down young roasting-ears.
Her husband, "Uncle Jake" Bennett, was
once one of the mightiest big-game hunters in this country.
Age has
dimmed his sight, but his wife carries on, and has done more towards eradicating
pests in a few months than he ever did in a lifetime.
More power to "Aunt Mag" and her trusty steel traps.
Maybe Grantsville
will be a sweeter smelling place. |
