Calhoun did whatever it wanted, whenever it wanted and as often as it wanted Friday night in handing visiting Ritchie a 50-0 drubbing.

Eric Metz and Justin Price scored two touchdowns each while Zach Houchin, Paul Goodrich and Justin Whipkey had one. The Red Devils also scored a safety when Dustin Carpenter and Chris Boone tackled a Ritchie runner in the end zone.

As lopsided as the 50-0 score was, it may have been worse.

Calhoun scored 29 points in the first quarter.

Price got the Red Devils off and running with 9:13 remaining in the first quarter when he hauled in a pass from Houchin and sped past the Ritchie defense.

Mike Sullivan then scored the Red Devils first extra point of the season - after missing five against Gilmer County in the season-opener - to put the Red Devils up 7-0.

Calhoun followed with a safety minutes later then added a touchdown on Houchin's one-yard run. The run culminated a short Red Devil drive following the Ritchie County kick after the safety.

That made the score 15-0 and it stayed that way until some last-minute first quarter lighting.

Price scored on a 24-yard run to culminate a long drive with: 47 remaining in the opening period.

Then, 13 seconds later following a Ritchie fumble; Paul Goodrich hauled in a 16-yard scoring pass from Houchin. Derek Roberts added the extra point, his second of the game.

Metz, who led the Red Devils with 128 yards rushing, scored two touchdowns in the second quarter, including one with :07 remaining. That made it 43-0 at halftime.

The Red Devils added another score in the third quarter, this one by the defense. That happened when Whipkey recovered a fumble in the end zone setting the final score at 50-0.

Statistically the Red Devils dominated 501 yards total offense and 24 first downs.

The Red Devils defense, which has pitched two shutouts this season, held Ritchie County with nine first downs and 94 yards total offense.
