THANKS CALHOUN - From Roane County

Dear Editor, We at the Roane County Library would like to thank all the groups and individuals who participated in the "We Care For Soldiers" project, in which candy bars wrapped in handwritten "thank you" letters were sent to our troops overseas.

The response was overwhelming, with people from not only Roane County, but surrounding counties, including Calhoun, participating.

On December 20, 2002, approximately 450 candy bars and letters were shipped out and, since then, Carol Hall (the library representative who initiated the program along with Brandy Brabham from the WVU Extension office) has received two separate letters from servicemen thanking all the folks who cared enough to participate.

So, to all you folks from Calhoun who participated, your thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated by us at the library and by all of the soldiers on the receiving end of your support.

Lucinda Castle,
Roane County Library Director
