As we think about 9/11 and the terrible day that it is was for our country. Out of the tragedy of the attack, let us remember that we had a 9/12.

I remember it well.

Every divisive issue in America fell to the wayside. People flooded the streets and stores, talking to people that a few days earlier, they claimed to hate.

Out of our day of sadness rose our country's banner.

The flag was everywhere.

You couldn't beg, borrow or steal a flag after 9/11.

We openly thanked our military, firefighters and police for their service. Military people were greeted with smiles, handshakes and offers of free meals.

For many Americans my age and younger, this was our awakening sleeping giant moment.

We didn't cower in fear.

Their objective of terror failed miserably.

People flocked to recruiting stations and yelled in a singular voice, "You will NOT mess with America!"

So, as we remember 9/11... let's not forget our 9/12.
