Feed The Meter

Dear Editor

I don't understand why people don't pay a parking ticket around here. They must not realize that one dollar is very, very reasonable compared to other parts of the country. Twenty years ago I got a parking ticket in Florida and at the time it was ten dollars, I'm sure it's much more than that now in that part of the country. The parking fees themselves are more than fair here also. I know of many places where they are double and triple the amount to feed the meter.

Maybe the people are not paying their tickets because they are ONLY one dollar. To me it hardly seems enough to cover the paper it's written on, or the time spent writing out the ticket, or processing it once the fine is paid. Maybe if the town made the parking fines higher, people might take the ticket a little more seriously and pay them, or remember to feed the meter.
