Dear Editor,

"I saw the tears of the oppressed..." was such a wonderful article.

Every West Virginian needs to understand that coal can be mined more safely with less harm to our people and to our environment. I have never understood why, as a West Virginian, that we sell our souls so cheaply in Appalachia.

How is it that billions of dollars can been extracted out of our beautiful state only to benefit the corporate barons... leaving death, destruction and misery behind.

God has put so much wealth under our land and yet we are made so poor because of it. Surely a fate better than what is now given can be achieved for West Virginians.
