Lady Red Devils Thank Fans & Community

(11/16/2010)

To the Calhoun County Community,

On behalf of the 2010 Calhoun County High School Lady Red Devil Volleyball team, we would like to thank our many fans for their tremendous support over the course of our season. The team experienced a record breaking season which included the most wins in school history with a 34-17 record, the 1st sectional championship and 1st regional championship in school history and only the 2nd trip to the state volleyball tournament in school history.

We would like to thank the following folks: our many fans that followed us on the road this season and especially those that traveled to the sectional, regional and state tournaments to cheer us on; the fans that made signs and placed them along our state tournament travel route, Cecil and Elaine Wolverton for their continual support; the team parents that provided team meals and transportation during the regular season.

Also, Patty Hall and Jamie Gerwig for all the water and snacks during the regular season; Victory Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Grantsville for the wonderful team meals during tournament week; Roger and Loretta Propst, Karen Mace, Pat Laughlin, Dee Wilford, and Lisa Reip for their assistance with team meals during tournament week; Sarah Tingler and Grantsville Foodland, Kim Mace and Glenville Foodland, the Koffee Kup, and Faye Barnhart for their donations to the team; the CHS Athletic Boosters for the charter bus and pre-game meal.

Also, the administration, faculty, staff and students of Arnoldsburg Elementary and Pleasant Hill Elementary for the great walk-throughs at the elementary schools, the administration, faculty, staff and students of Calhoun County Middle-High School for all their support during the state tournament week including the assembly, pep rally and walk through.

We did our best and in the end that is all you can do. We came up a little short on the scoreboard but not for lack of effort; as Vince Lombardi said, "the price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand" and the Lady Red Devils did just that. Although our season ended two matches earlier than we wanted, we worked hard, played our game and did our best.

We had the very best fans at the state tournament and the love and support of our community is something each of us will always cherish. Thank you so very much.
