Parents Feel Son Slighted During Football Game

(10/19/2009)

Dear Editor,

We would like to start by commending all the athletes on the Calhoun County Football Team for their efforts Friday night against Roane County Raiders.

Battling against the elements, injuries, and other obstacles that were out of their control, they did not give up and played with all the heart and talent they have to offer.

We believe that all these young men, from the play making starters to the reserves waiting to be allowed to step forth, deserve our support and respect.

We would end by saying that we take offense, as should any Calhoun Fan or Parent, to the rude, unkind, and uncalled for remarks made by the radio announcers from Calhoun County about our son during the broadcast.

Our son leaves everything he has on the field during practice and during a game.

He has no control over the experience he has acquired, but can only give his best effort when asked to step up.

He deserves support in these attempts.

These announcers are the embarrassment to our County, not any of the athletes that gave all they had to give. We believe a public apology is in order
