The Value of Gardens

Dear Editor, I just read your comments on the cost of food going to go up. I remember WWII and everybody had a "Victory Garden".

We grew most of our food and many in Grantsville did the same.

In fact, I can not think of a single home that did not have a garden.

It's time to go back and do the same. I now live in Springfield, MO and we have what I call our "postage stamp plantation".

It is a small but very productive garden.

If Michelle Obama can dig up some of the White House lawn to plant a garden, we need to take a lesson and do the same.

Forever a West Virginian,
Ruth Jordan Boyd
