A Heartwood Thank You

(01/17/2002)

Dear Editor: Heartwood in the Hills will celebrate its 20th anniversary in the Fall 2002. The school was founded in 1982 by Jude Binder and Frank Venezia as a non-profit school for the arts, offering children and adults the opportunities to explore, create and experience art, music, dance and the cultures of the world through its twelve week class programs.

Heartwood has come a long way in 20 years and has provided art opportunity for many.

Last month Heartwood presented its 9th annual December Celebration to a standing room only audience. The December Celebration is the showcase of the student work of the Fall Program. And what a showcase the 2001 event was. It was a wonderful community evening.

The students, faculty, office staff and board of directors would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came to the December Celebration. Special thanks are also given to parents of Heartwood students who made a real volunteer commitment to the programs.

We would also like to thank the public, private and business communities who have supported Heartwood through their financial contributions to the schoolıs operation and scholarship fund. Dance Team A joins the board, staff and faculty in extending a very heartfelt thank you to the Family Resource Network , Calhoun County Community Resources Inc. and the Little Kanawha Bus Company for providing transportation for team members.

Heartwoodıs Spring program will begin in March. Will hold an open house on Saturday, March 2, at 2 p.m. We would like to extend an invitation to you all to come to Heartwood for the open house and to join us for our Spring program by taking a class.
