Friends of the Appalachian Classic

(06/09/2007)

Dear friends,

This is the 11th year of the Appalachian Classic and my first year as director.

I have found it a daunting but doable task.

But now comes the hard part: asking for money.

However, now that the other festivals are over we feel we can ask you for funds for this classic, which presents Calhoun County in a positive light throughout the region.

What are your benefits for helping? Not much really but you get to be a good corporate citizen by keeping a beneficial community event going.

We will be most grateful for anything you may do to help us and we will make every attempt to see that your generosity is noted in local area media.

Thank you in advance for anything you may do.

The Appalachian Classic is a two-day event this year and will be held at the Calhoun County Park in Mount Zion starting Saturday June 16 with the Appalachian Classic 5K Run/Walk. Other events scheduled Saturday include a family bike ride, a child's bike contest, the pond jump and the evening's music.

There is only one event Sunday June 17 - the Appalachian Classic Mountain Bike Race. It starts at noon.

It should be a fun weekend and we invite you to come out and enjoy any or all of the events.

Cordially,

Gaylen Duskey, Director Appalachian Classic
