Team Bon Jovi/WV finished off its season at the U.S. National Championships with a few extremes - taking its oldest and youngest members to race, and then confronting the extreme (for West Virginia folks, anyway!) altitude at Mammoth Mountain, CA.

Both Steve Thaxton (Expert 40-44) and Cai Clothier (Junior 11-12) were frustrated by the altitude, with Steve finishing 19th and Cai finishing 8th, but they had a great experience…

Steve Thaxton stated that the Mammoth Mountain venue had the largest and most active venue he's seen in years at a mountain bike race, and Cai was wowed by the mammoth sculpture of the mammoth in the village, and his ride on a Cannodale SIX13 down the hill. The "bikini" bike wash was another item of interest.

Team Bon Jovi/WV, though, has had a great year overall, and is in the process of preparing for next year - thanking this year's sponsors, and hoping they will renew, seeking new sponsors, assessing individual and team performance, and reviewing the many race resumes received from riders wishing to join the team for the 2005 season.

Team Bon Jovi/West Virginia is sponsored by Jon Bon Jovi (yes, the rock star!), Worldwide Chiropractic and Sports Medicine, Maple Creative, Charleston Bicycle Center, Kenda Tires. Cannondale, Pactimo, Fetty Intensive Training, Hydrapak, Ritchey, and Curve Socks. Please visit our web site at for more information and contact information.
