Team Bon Jovi/WV Pro rider Bryan Fawley clinched the WV Mountain Bike Association Point Series Title for the Men's Pro/Expert class yesterday, even though TJ Platt beat him out at the Appalachian Classic Mountain Bike Race finish line by 1 second.

Team Bon Jovi/WV riders Mandi Riddle, Women's Pro/Expert, Andrew Fetty, Junior Expert, and Chris Flick, Men's Sport 19-25, placed 2nd in the Point Series.

Vet Expert Steve Thaxton and Junior 14 and under rider Cai Clothier took the 3rd place standings, and Men's Pro/Expert (and NORBA National Champion) Joey Riddle, Women's Expert Courtney Dudley, Men's Sport 26-34 Michael Haid, and Men's Sport Vet Wesley Stafford all placed 4th in the Point Series standings.

The WV Mountain Bike Association Point Series is an incredible 16 race series in which racers compete from April through September in all areas of the state.

The Appalachian Classic, held Sunday, September 19th, was the Point Series Championship race. It is a 7.2 mile lap race on the trails at the Calhoun County Park. The Park's trails, covering everything from super fast single track to rough and rocky descents, were surprisingly dry - considering the unwelcome visitation by Ivan. Fortunately, though, Ivan was exceedingly gentle on the area, with Calhoun County reporting no major flooding.

Team Bon Jovi/WV will send 2 of it's nine qualified members to the US National Championships at Mammoth Mountain next weekend. Vet Expert 40-44 Steve Thaxton and Junior 11-12 rider Cai Clothier are both hoping for excellent results.

Team Bon Jovi/West Virginia is sponsored by Jon Bon Jovi (yes, the rock star!), Worldwide Chiropractic and Sports Medicine, Maple Creative, Charleston Bicycle Center, Kenda Tires. Cannondale, Pactimo, Fetty Intensive Training, Hydrapak, and Curve Socks. Please visit our web site at www.teamwvbonjovi.com for more information and contact information.
