Dear Bob,

I just read your story about the whippoorwills. That is one sound that I miss since moving to a town. I was raised in Braxton County, up a holler and in the spring there was a whippoorwill in the tree across the road from our house every night.

It is the most beautiful sound there is on a clear spring night. My son lived out on a ridge here in Wirt County a couple of years ago and came to appreciate the sound of the whippoorwills.

He would invited me out to sit and listen with him. That is a precious memory. Thanks for the article that made me remember the beautiful sound of the whippoorwill.
