WV COVID-19 TUESDAY REPORT - 1,017 CASES, 31 DEATHS

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 31 new COVID-19 deaths in the state Tuesday morning, but hospitalizations continue to decrease.

1,017 new cases Tuesday.

America's death toll has exceeded 400,000.

Calhoun has 2 cases since Sunday, 18 new cases last week, and 28 new cases the previous week.

Hospitalizations dropped from 644 to 638. Intensive care admissions are down 10 on Tuesday at 162 and the number of people on ventilators is also down to 85 from 91 the previous day.

The state’s active case total dropped Tuesday to 26,675.

There have been 1,815 deaths from the coronavirus in West Virginia.

The overall positive test rate increased slightly Tuesday to 5.50% while the daily positive test rate also increased from 6.19% to 6.24%.

There have been at least 82,330 recoveries since the pandemic started.

b Vaccines will be available for those 65 and older, the governor indicating the state has not received new doses.

As for vaccines, the state says 24,181 people have been fully vaccinated. The state has received 132,700 first doses. There have been 132,192 first doses administered, which is 99.6% of all the first doses the state has received. There have been 28,275 second doses received, and the state has administered 85.5% of those, for a total of 24,181.
