| State health officials confirmed 119 new COVID-19 cases and one new death in West Virginia Sunday morning.
The death of a 79-year-old man from Kanawha County raised the state’s death toll due to the virus to 117, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. The death was reported by the county health department Saturday.
West Virginia’s daily positive test rate finished at 3% for the day while the overall positive test rate remained at 2.35%.
As of Saturday, the state has added four new hospitalizations due to the virus, including eight new admissions to intensive care units. There are currently 112 residents hospitalized with 47 in intensive care and 16 on ventilators.

There are now 1,840 active cases in the state while at least 4,897 residents have recovered from the virus.
