West Virginia added 42 new COVID-19 cases Friday afternoon and had a daily total increase of 145 cases, state health officials reported.

The number of active cases declined a total of 25 from the previous day, from 1,604 to 1,579.

According to a news release from the DHHR, the state had a total of 5,695 cases as of 5 p.m. Friday.

No new deaths were reported, and the death total remained at 103.

More than 253,000 tests have been conducted and the overall positive test rate was at 2.25%. The daily positive test rate was at 3.41%.

The number of hospitalizations was listed at 76, with 37 in intensive care and 15 on a ventilator. DHHR officials reported 4,013 have recovered from the virus.
