| West Virginia’s death toll from the coronavirus outbreak has increased to a total of 74, and the number of positive virus cases jumped by 57.
The state Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed the most recent death, a 75-year-old man from Preston County, in a news release Tuesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the number of positive virus cases increased to a total of 1,854. Of those cases, 1,808 are confirmed and 46 are probable.
The DHHR said more than 87,800 tests have been given so far. West Virginia’s cumulative positive test rate is starting to creep back up, and now stands at 2.11%.
According to the state agency’s website, 1,180 have recovered from the virus. Currently, 600 cases are considered active.
