This ole weathered house of Egypt Ridge has barely survived the passage of time. If it could speak, we wonder what stories it could tell.

Local folks say its longtime residents, the Burley Carpenter family and the Rex Schrekengost (1927-1995) family are long gone, their descendants scattered to the wind.

Burley (1901-1989)and Zanna Starcher (1905-1993) Carpenter and their family lived in the house, in addition to Edward R. Carpenter (1929-2006), a soldier that served in three wars, a retired government investigator.

They are buried nearby.
