Pepper McCormick earns Third Place Nationally in Career Prep

Approximately 8,500 students from across the country, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands, Germany, and Turkey attended the 2019 National TSA [Technology Student Association] Conference, "Model the Way," held June 28–July 2 at the Gaylord National Resort at National Harbor near Washington, D.C.

Students attending the National TSA Conference compete in technology and leadership contests such as biotechnology, career prep, coding, digital photography, problem solving, prepared speech, video game design, website design, and more.

There were several national top ten finalists from schools across West Virginia; however, we are most proud of our own Calhoun Middle High School finalist, Pepper McCormick, who placed Third in the nation in Career Prep.

Trophies are awarded to the top three finalists and pins are awarded to the top ten finalists. This is only the second year that CMHS has had a TSA chapter, and it is truly exciting that both years Calhoun TSA students have not only earned the right to attend the national conference, but have also taken the stage as national finalists.

Attending this conference was made possible by the Calhoun County ASPIRE program and a travel grant for first place state winners from the WV Department of Education. Thank you for supporting our students.
