WOMAN ATTEMPTED MURDER - A Webster County woman is facing several charges, including attempted murder, after a domestic incident.

On Tuesday, June 11, Webster County sheriff's deputies were called to a domestic dispute on Williams River Road, near Cowen.

When deputies arrived, they say two vehicles in a field and a man running toward them shouting, "she has a gun" and "she tried to shoot me," according to a criminal complaint.

Deputies then found Pamela Bender, 56 of Cowen, sitting in the driver's seat of one of the vehicles. Bender told a deputy that a gun was under the car's seat, according to her criminal complaint.

The alleged victim, Bernard Gadd, told deputies that he and Bender had been living together for a year and that she had gotten mad at him and told him to leave and give her the house keys, the complaint said. Gadd told her he would give her the keys until he got his belongings out of the home, deputies said.

Bender then pulled a handgun on Gadd and told him that she would kill him, he told deputies. Gadd jumped in his vehicle and tried to escape, at which point Bender shot at the vehicle, hitting it in the left rear quarter panel and the left rear tire, deputies allege.

During a search of Bender, deputies found a bag of methamphetamine, the criminal complaint said.

Bender is charged with attempted first degree murder, wanton endangerment and possession of methamphetamine.>P> She is being held in the Central Regional Jail with bail set at $60,000.

STRANGLEHOLD - A man from Putnam County was arrested after allegedly threatening to kill a woman with a shotgun and strangling her, county court records show.

Tony Lee Buck, 55, of Buffalo, West Virginia, is charged with wanton endangerment involving a firearm.

According to the criminal complaint, deputies responded to a domestic violence situation Monday.

They say the woman was thrown onto a porch floor with a shotgun toward her face as the suspect allegedly threatened to kill her.

The victim told deputies that Buck then got on top of her and began strangling her. She said she nearly lost consciousness.

According to the criminal complaint, Buck was convicted of grand larceny in 1983 and second-degree arson in 1993.

The victim told deputies that Buck has threatened to kill her with a firearm before.

Buck was taken to the Western Regional Jail. His bond is $150,000 cash only.

MAN ATTEMPTS TO KILL MOTHER - A Fayette County man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly assaulted and stabbed his 80-year-old mother, during a domestic dispute.

According to Sheriff Mike Fridley, deputies were dispatched to a home on Summerlee Road in Oak Hill, following a 911 hang-up call. Officers found the victim inside the residence. She initially was taken to Plateau Medical Center and later was flown to Charleston Area Medical Center. The extent of her injuries was not disclosed.

The suspect, Ronald Nelson Massey, 47, was detained at the scene.

Fridley said charges will be announced after interviews with witnesses are completed.
