A large-scale power outage has been reported in the Glenville area.

According to the Gilmer County 911 Comm Center, a large tree took down the main power line to Glenville, causing most residents and businesses in the area to lose power. As a result, Gilmer County schools are closed and Glenville State College has cancelled classes for the day, according to the center.

Mon Power is working to restore power as soon as possible and back feeding power in order to restore power as soon as possible.

Power is expected be restored by 1:00 p.m. Friday, according to Mon Power's website.

Landline and cell phone line have also been affected.
