ROANE JUVENILE ARRESTED FOR ROBBERY, GRAND LARCENY - Wild Knife Threatening Spree

(02/10/2019)
A juvenile in Roane County was arrested Tuesday after threatening a woman with a knife and robbing her. Roane County Sheriff L. Todd Cole said he also stole a car and other items from neighbors. It happened on Campbell's Addition at the edge of Spencer.

Deputies said a 17-year-old threatened a woman with a knife in her living room. He told her he would kill her if he did not get what he wanted. The woman identified the 17-year-old as the son of a woman living in her basement.

Then, deputies said the juvenile locked the woman in her bedroom and threatened violence if she left. He stole cash, a Sony cell phone and the woman's driver's license.

Deputies said he also tried to steal the car at the home, but did not damage the vehicle.

Then, the juvenile walked down the street and asked another woman to use her phone and walked away with it. He then stole a 2006 Ford Freestar van that belonged to the Roane County Committee on Aging.

The van had a woman's purse in it with medication, cell phone and money. The woman called police and, when an officer arrived, they discovered the other woman locked in her bedroom yelling for help on the same street as the vehicle theft.

Deputies said all property was recovered except a woman's driver's license and cash. The stolen vehicle was wrecked.

The 17-year-old is charged with robbery, grand larceny, attempt to commit a felony and petit larceny.
