CALHOUN HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM OPEN FRIDAY - Soup And Sandwich Dinner, Historical Books For Sale

The Calhoun County Historical Society will be serving a Soup and Sandwich Lunch on Friday, February 23 from 11:00 to 2:00. Proceeds will go to the continued expenses of the Society and the remodel of the Stump House Hotel lobby and parlor. Possible soups on the menu are chili, broccoli cheese, venison vegetable, Sunday supper soup (includes meatballs) and chicken tortellini soup, a variety of sandwiches and iced tea. Everyone is welcome to dine in and take out is available. The cost of the lunch is $6.

Now available is The Living Waters Series of three books written by Calhoun's own Sharon Yoak Turner. These books follow a group of transients as they make their way from Parkersburg to Calhoun County during the Civil War era. Sharon's books have received very good reviews. We also have copies of The Legend of Mammy Jane by Sybil Jarvis Pischke and The Civilian War in West Virginia -The Moccasin Rangers by George Hall of Parkersburg.

The Historical Society Museum is open every Friday from 11:00 to 2:00 and other times can be arranged by calling 354-7507 or 354-7263. Regular meetings are on the second Thursday each month at 6:00. Visitors are always welcome. You might even want to join in the fun.
