WIC NUTRITION PROGRAM

The Women, Infants, and Children [WIC] Nutrition Program is a supplemental foods program for pregnant, post-partum, or breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to the age of five. WIC provides food, breastfeeding support and nutrition education to families in Calhoun County. To apply for the WIC Program or to receive more information call the local office at 304-354-6898 or the main office in Parkersburg at 304-428-3688. WIC Clinic is at 186 Hospital Drive Building 2, Suite 3, Grantsville each Wednesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

BIG OTTER FRIDAY NIGHT MUSIC - At the Big Otter Community Center in Ivydale, WV. Every Friday doors open at 4:30 p.m., music begins at 7:00 p. m. and continues until 10:00 p.m. This week's featured band is Rock n Country. Come have a hillbilly hotdog with chili and cole slaw some homemade dessert and visit with your neighbors before being entertained with Ole Country, Bluegrass and sometimes a little Rock and Roll. UWFP GUN SHOW - If you are a gun enthusiast and want to see what guns are out there for sale without going to a gun store, come to the Upper West Fork Park at Chloe, Friday, October 25 - 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, 26th - 8:00 a.m. til 5:00 p.m. If your a gun owner and want to sell some guns, contact Carroll Arnold 304-655-7407 to schedule a table(s) Cost for tables is $15.00 per table. Cover charge at the door is $5.00 per person to attend. Good food available from 12:00 til closing both days. The Park is located at Upper West Fork Park 88 Red Roof Lane, Chloe WV.

ANNUAL COMMUNITY HALLOWEEN PARTY - The annual Calhoun County Halloween Party at the Arnoldsburg Community Building will be held Saturday, October 26th from 3 to 5 p.m. The event will include inflatables a costume contest and Trunk or Treat. Organizers are still accepting monetary donations and people to participate by decorating their trunks and handing out candy. TRICK-OR-TREAT - Minnie Hamilton Health System, Long Term Care Unit will be participating in Community Trick or Treat on Saturday, October 26. Candy will be given out from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The event is open to the children of the community.

SONG SERVICE IN MEMORY OF SARAH GRETCHEN LESTER - (December 16, 1917 – January 16, 2018) The service will be held at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 335 Church Street, Spencer, beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday October 27, with Rev. Carl Tribett, Pastor and Dr. David Tupper, Organist. Gretchen, had a beautiful singing voice and played the piano. at different churches over the years and sometimes revivals. She was 100 years and one month when she died. If you like to sing, or enjoy music, the family invites you to come to remember her and to enjoy some of the music she loved. Come even if you didn’t know Gretchen and enjoy the music.

UWFP TRICK OR TREAT - The Upper West Fork Park at Chloe will have Trick-Or-Treat on Sunday, Oct. 27th from 3-5 p.m.

The 4th annual Craft and Vendor Fair sponsored by Pleasant Hill Elementary School PTO will take place Saturday, November 2nd from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill School, Grantsville, WV. Admission is FREE! Concessions will be available as well as raffle tickets for a $250 VISA gift card and basket - A large number of crafters and vendors will be present selling their items.
