ADULT EDUCATION

FREE - The High School Equivalency Test is still free in West Virginia. However, you do need to pass a Practice Test first. Call 304-354-6151 Extension 106 to schedule a test or just come in to an Adult Basic Education class. Calhoun County classes are held at the Career Center on Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30-3:30 and Wednesday from 4-6 and Gilmer County classes are at St. Marks Church on Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6. There are also Distance Ed classes available through Arnoldsburg Elementary. Don't wait. Call now.

WIC NUTRITION PROGRAM

The Women, Infants, and Children [WIC] Nutrition Program is a supplemental foods program for pregnant, post-partum, or breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to the age of five. WIC provides food, breastfeeding support and nutrition education to families in Calhoun County. To apply for the WIC Program or to receive more information call the local office at 304-354-6898 or the main office in Parkersburg at 304-428-3688. WIC Clinic is at 186 Hospital Drive Building 2, Suite 3, Grantsville each Wednesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

SAVE THE CHILDREN-PARENT CHILD GROUPS
ARNOLDSBURG AND PLEASANT HILL SCHOOLS

Save the Children has an exciting opportunity for children and families in Calhoun County. We are offering weekly Parent Child Groups at Pleasant Hill Elementary School and Arnoldsburg Elementary School, starting every Friday at 2:00 p.m. The focus of these groups will be Kindergarten Readiness Skills for children 3 to 5 years old, but all younger siblings are also welcome to attend. Snacks will also be provided.

During the weekly Parent Child Groups, we will be exploring the following Language, Literacy and Math Kindergarten Readiness skill areas: Knowing about the alphabet, books and print; talking and listening; understanding words and sounds; numbers, counting, patterns, sorting and classification; comparison, measurement and geometry. These are all critical skills that your child needs in order to be prepared for Preschool and Kindergarten. We look forward to meeting you and helping prepare your child for school success.

LK ABW MINISTRIES SPRING RALLY - The LK ABW Ministries Spring Rally will be held on Thursday, April 18, at Grantsville Baptist Church. Registration begins at 6:00 pm. A Covered Dish meal will be served with host church providing pulled pork, coleslaw and drinks, others attending please bring a Covered Dish to share (salad, dessert, vegetable) A Silent Auction will be held to benefit a Special Project. FRIDAY NIGHT BINGO - At the Rosedale Senior Center on April 19th. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and games begin at 6:00 p.m. A donation of $20.00 will get you 20 games. Extra pads are $5.00 each. The winner of each game receives a prize of money based on the number of pads sold. Jackpot tickets are $5.00 each. The JACKPOT on April 19th. starts at $832.50. Concessions will be available, so please come early and eat with us. Bingo proceeds go for the operation of the Rosedale Senior Center. Thank you in advance for your support. MIX-IT-UP-BINGO - For the Elmira Baptist Christian Academy. Items include Longaberger, Case, Tupperware, Pampered chef and other items. The event will be held at Arnoldsburg Park on Friday, April 19th. 20 games for $20. Doors open at 5 pm, Bingo starts at 6 pm. Food will be served. ANNUAL TRADE DAY-FLEA MARKET-BARN DANCE - The Central WV Riding Club will be holding its annual trade day/flea market/barn dance on Saturday, April 27 at Holly Gray Park in Sutton. DINNER-SILENT AUCTION-RAFFLES FUNDRAISER - Saturday, April 27th at the Fire Hall in Grantsville for dinner, raffles, silent auction, and some fun! Proceeds go to Keri Cottrell who was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease when she was 25. She has been fighting for years to get relief from the nasty disease. She has had multiple surgeries and will undergo surgery in May 2019 to try and help her get relief. This surgery may result in a small bowel transplant. All proceeds will go towards her medical expenses. We appreciate everyone who has donated or offered to help in any way. Dinner will start at 1 pm and end at 5 pm. CRESTON SPRING POKER RUN - The Creston Community Building will hold their Spring ATV Poker Run on Saturday, April 27. The address is 340 Anns Run Road. Creston is 13 miles from Elizabeth and 14 miles from Grantsville on WV Route 5, follow the signs. Registration is from 9:00 a.m. until noon. No two wheelers allowed. All state ATV regulations must be followed. Entry fee is $10. 1st Place 30%, 2nd Place 10%, 3rd Place 10%. This is a leisurely ride, not a race and riders under 18 must wear a helmet. ROSEDALE COMMUNITY CEMETERY BOARD MEETING - At the Rosedale Senior Center in Rosedale, WV on Sunday Evening, May 5 at 4:00 p.m. For the Cemetery located on the hill above the Rosedale Methodist Church. Officers to oversee the Cemetery upkeep and plots for burial will be elected for the forthcoming year. Community members, friends and relatives of those buried here are cordially invited and welcome to attend. Officers goals is to honor those resting in this cemetery by taking care of their monuments and keeping the grounds in the best condition possible. We look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

Cyrus has teamed up with Debbie Mayle from 'His Heart Ablaze' for his fundraising event. Come out and paint a picture of your own to take home while supporting Cyrus and a local business! $25 per adult $20 per child (price is per canvas) All supplies included in price.
