ADULT EDUCATION

FREE - The High School Equivalency Test is still free in West Virginia. However, you do need to pass a Practice Test first. Call 304-354-6151 Extension 106 to schedule a test or just come in to an Adult Basic Education class. Calhoun County classes are held at the Career Center on Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30-3:30 and Wednesday from 4-6 and Gilmer County classes are at St. Marks Church on Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6. There are also Distance Ed classes available through Arnoldsburg Elementary. Don’t wait. Call now.

WIC NUTRITION PROGRAM

The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program is a supplemental foods program for pregnant, post-partum, or breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to the age of five. WIC provides food, breastfeeding support and nutrition education to families in Calhoun County. To apply for the WIC Program or to receive more information call the local office at 304-354-6898 or the main office in Parkersburg at 304-428-3688. WIC Clinic is at 186 Hospital Drive Building 2, Suite 3, Grantsville each Wednesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

PARENT CHILD GROUPS

Parent-Child Groups are held every FRIDAY at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Elementary School. The focus of these are 3 to 5 prek/k readiness skills. But all children 0 to 5 are welcome to attend. Come out and take advantage of this FREE PROGRAM. "I always have a snack for the kids, a give away for one lucky parent and a craft. PIT ROASTED BEEF & PORK LOIN - GILMER COUNTY FARM BUREAU FUNDRAISER - The Gilmer County Farm Bureau is taking orders for Pit Beef and/or Pork Loin Roast. The meat is cut into 5-pound portions. CREATIVE ART PAINT NIGHT - The Calhoun County library is hosting a "Creative Art Paint Night," Tuesday, June 19th from 6-8 p.m. at the Library. No instructor just paints, canvas and your imagination! ATV SUMMER POKER RUN - Creston Community Building's Summer ATV Poker Run is scheduled for Saturday, June 30. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. through noon. $10 entry fee. 1st Place 30%, 2nd Place 10%, 3rd Place 10% of the door. Riders must stop at all stations or may be disqualified.
