ADULT EDUCATION

FREE - The High School Equivalency Test is still free in West Virginia. However, you do need to pass a Practice Test first. Call 304-354-6151 Extension 106 to schedule a test or just come in to an Adult Basic Education class. Calhoun County classes are held at the Career Center on Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30-3:30 and Wednesday from 4-6 and Gilmer County classes are at St. Marks Church on Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6. There are also Distance Ed classes available through Arnoldsburg Elementary. Don’t wait. Call now.

WIC NUTRITION PROGRAM

The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program is a supplemental foods program for pregnant, post-partum, or breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to the age of five. WIC provides food, breastfeeding support and nutrition education to families in Calhoun County. To apply for the WIC Program or to receive more information call the local office at 304-354-6898 or the main office in Parkersburg at 304-428-3688. BENEFIT DINNER - There will be a Benefit Dinner for Roger “Pete” Greenlief at the Rosedale Senior Center in Rosedale, WV, on Sunday, April 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Menu will be Ham, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Green Beans, Buttered Corn, Hot Rolls, Various Desserts, Coffee, Tea, Lemonade, & Water. Carry-out Meals available. Donations at the door will be greatly appreciated. Live Entertainment will start at 1:00 p.m. There will be Raffles and 50-50 Chances. “Pete” is currently on a Heart Transplant List through Ruby Memorial Hospital. He is suffering from and being treated for terminal Heart Disease. This Benefit is sponsored by The Rosedale Senior Center & Friends. All proceeds will go to Roger “Pete” Greenlief to help with medical and travel expenses.

David Cooke of Berea College and Director of Grow Appalachia will be presenting information and assessing interest about how we can make better use of our woodlands for sustainable production of many different forest products (other than timber.)
