The Clay County Commission was awarded $125,000 of HUD Community Development Broadband Grant funding for Clay, Calhoun and Roane Counties to develop and implement a broadband network to serve the three counties.

Shown above are some of the CCR Regional Broadband Development Committee members, commissioners from the three counties and legislators.

The committee was founded from each county broadband group in the fall of 2017 to address the concerns of its citizens due to the lack of broadband services or even basic internet services.

The next step of the committee is to develop a feasibility study and business plan for the group and to engage providers and acquire a professional consultant to bring this vision to a workable plan.

You as resident or this area can help. The CCR committee is requesting you first take an internet speed test if you can at bb4wv.org (the CCR website) to gain knowledge and further our funding hopes. Please join us on the website or facebook.

If you cannot take the test, please contact our automated call in number (304-278-4754) and tell us about your situation. Please leave details where you live, your 911 address, what Internet providers are available, the costs, and why you need access.

Last but not least, you can write a letter of support as to why you need broadband service and send it to CCR Broadband Development Committee, c/o Regional Intergovernmental Council, 315 D Street, South Charleston, WV 25303.
