This year in Calhoun there will be large crop of stink bugs and spiders.
It will be a great year for all bugs, including flies and gnats, likely linked to the warm season. Calhoun did not have a measurable snow 2022-23.
Stanley Mills, director of the Division of Environmental Services with the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department, says to expect a big crop of stink bugs.
"Other than being a nuisance, they do not harm anything," Mills said.
There appears to be a bigger crop of spiders including the giant Wood Spider.
The gnats are everywhere. When they really get bad, when cool weather comes in fall.
