When my grandfather's brother Mont McCoy would come to Hur to visit for a few days, he would gather the youngsters around for "favors."

"I'll give you 5 cents for every song you sing to me," on the porch.

Then he would challenge every kid to recite the "Ten Commandments," for which he would give a dollar, a one time treat.
