In 1952, Calhoun High School student Jack Smith wrote about catching the school bus - "When you ride the bus you have to get up about 6 a.m....afraid you'll miss the bus...You stand in the cold for about an hour until you're fingers turn blue and your nose gets red as a cherry. Finally you hear a big crash and the old tin can (bus) comes along."
