Students seem to know little about the Vietnam War, one of America's ill-fated military interventions, no fault of the over 50,000 soldiers who lost their lives and tens of thousands wounded.

A Rosedale bridge has been memorialized for a fallen Vietnam war veteran from the community.

The bridge is called the Daniel Ferrell Tallman Memorial Bridge.

Pvt. Tallman was a member of the "Big Red One," an outfit that had 6,000 killed and about 16,000 wounded in Vietnam.

It will be a lasting memorial to PFC Tallman who was killed in combat during the Vietnam War on November 24, 1965.

Tallman was a lifelong resident of Braxton County and grew up in Rosedale, the son of Trader and Agnes Ferrell Tallman of Rosedale.
