JUDGE BLIZZARD WRITES ODE TO HIS DECEASED WIFE

(09/27/2025)
Judge Reese Blizzard practiced law in Grantsville for several years, before being elected to circuit judgeship, he married Lillian Stump, daughter of Albert H. and Drucilla Ball Stump.

Lillie died early in life in 1896, and is buried in Bethlehem Cemetery.

The Stump family, founders of Grantsville and proprietors of the Stump Hotel, are all descendents of the well-known line of Michael Stumps.

Blizzard, who went on to an illustrious career in law and business in Parkersburg, penned this poem to his wife's memory:

A Poem From "Trail of My Pen" - Nettie Stump, Grantsville WV
