Blanche Whytsell, often written about in the Herald, is having health problems and
is a patient at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg.
She has been in the hospital since Thanksgiving.
Blanche, along with her husband Randall, is well-known for the longtime Whytsell
Reunion, attended by hundreds of relatives, neighbors and friends. She is also
known for her cooking and volunteerism. With her husband Randall, she was the
Parade Marshal at the recent Molasses Festival.
Now, Randall has been in Roane General Hospital with pneumonia, but he is expected to be released today.
Blanche has been in severe pain from fractures of her spine, and is undergoing
evaluation and treatment. Her daughter, Peggy Stemple, says improvement has been made in blocking her pain and she is being fitted for a back brace.
