Arlis Mills Brohard, 87, of Parkersburg,
formerly of Brohard, passed away Dec. 4, 2003, at Sebastian
River Medical Center near his winter home in Sebastian, Fla.
He was born Aug. 25, 1916, a son of the late Minter Marple and Lizzie
Mills Brohard.
He was a member of the Scottish Rite of the Masonic
Temple and the Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Brohard owned and
operated one of the largest general stores in Ritchie County, Brohard
Brothers' Store, at MacFarlan, from 1950 until his retirement in 1975. Prior
to his enterprise, Mr. Brohard worked for South Penn, a Pennzoil associate,
at Brohard, before and following his 6th Infantry Army service during World
War II. Mr. Brohard was an adoring and endearing husband, father,
grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his daughter, Anita Jane Stidham and her husband, Rhett,
of Florida; a granddaughter and her husband, Kelli and Jay White of
Parkersburg; a great-grandson, Jamie White of Parkersburg; and a brother
and sister-in-law, Marvin and Donna Jean Brohard of Spencer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years,
Ruth Brohard in 2002; two daughters, Linda Lou and Arlene Brohard; and
a brother, Argil Otis Brohard.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral
Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, with the Rev. William P. Snider
officiating. Military services will be by American Legion Post 15 and
masonic graveside services by Burning Springs Lodge. |
