Calhoun has been declared a federal flood disaster area and is eligible for federal disaster aid, according to Gov. Bob Wise.

A new declaration was issued Saturday for counties hit by this week's flooding.

A similar declaration was issued earlier for six other counties damaged by flooding.

Flood victims can apply for federal aid by calling the Federal Emergency Management Agency at 1-800-621-3362 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., seven days a week. The FEMA telephone line will be closed on Thanksgiving.

In addition to Calhoun, the 15 other counties include Boone, Clay, Fayette, Gilmer, Greenbrier, Marion, McDowell, Mercer, Monongalia, Monroe, Raleigh, Summers, Webster, Wetzel and Wyoming counties. The earlier declaration was issued for Cabell, Kanawha, Lincoln, Nicholas, Putnam and Wayne.
