It was a night of recognition for Calhoun 4-H
Debbie McDonald spoke of 4-H's primary purposes
Dozens of Calhoun 4-H'ers received awards and certificates of recognition at last
nights Calhoun 4-H Achievement Awards at Mt. Zion.
Arnoldsburg resident Glenna Fleming was recognized as a 50 year member of the
CEOS, and several 4-H volunteer leaders were recognized.
County Extension agent Lew Holloway said a number of years ago, when he was
twelve years old, he was standing before 4-H groups. "Tonight we recognize the
dedicated work of our members and volunteers," he said. "4-H is a program
directed toward personal achievement and helping communities."
Charles Thomas was recognized as the outstanding 4-H leader
Grantsville resident Ryan Bremar received the "I Dare You" award
One year volunteer leadership certificates presented
Roane County rocket boy Madison Sergeant
WVU Extension 4-H Youth Development Director Debbie McDonald was the featured
speaker of the evening, after being somewhat late, having struck a deer.
Madison Sergent, a Roane County and state 4-H winner, gave a visual presentation
on rocketry. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Sergent of Spencer.
Charles Thomas of the West Fork Cardinals club was recognized as an outstanding
4-H leader and Ryan Bremar received the "I Dare You" award, which included a
$500 scholarship to an out-of-state leadership conference. |
