The State Police have not charged a Bear Run man after he reportedly brandished
a weapon when Calhoun County EMS arrived at his residence to render
assistance.
Darrell Nicholas fell and struck himself on the face, after which an ambulance was
called. Nicholas then allegedly exhibited a weapon to an emergency services
worker.
Calhoun EMS Director Josh Johnson said police stated there was not enough "evidence of
intent" to bring charges.
At least six law enforcement officers were responding to the incident when the
weapon was reportedly obtained by a friend of Nicholas, and then given to State
Trooper Doug Starcher when he arrived.
Nicholas was taken to Roane General Hospital where he was treated and
released.
