GLENVILLE STATE SEEKING NEW PRESIDENT - Three Candidates Will Be

(11/05/2003)
Glenville State College has narrowed its search for a new president to three candidates.

Interim President Robert Freeman is on the list, along with Curtis Smith and Kenneth Zirkle -- who are both scheduled for interviews next week.

All three candidates will be interviewed by the college's Presidential Search Committee and meet with faculty, staff, students and community leaders.

Smith is provost and vice president for academic affairs at California University of Pennsylvania, where he served as interim president in fall 2002.

Zirkle was president of The University of Findlay in Ohio from 1983 to 2003, and has been associated with other institutions.

Freeman has served as interim president since July, replacing Dr. Thomas Powell, who took a job as president of Mount St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Freeman previously served as provost and vice president for academic affairs.
