Woodrow Cottrell, 89, of Elizabeth died Saturday evening, Nov. 1, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Calhoun County, he was the son of the late Perry and Laura Rogers Cottrell. He attended the Jesus Revival Center Church and had retired after 16 years of service from the Ravens Metal Co. He had also been employed by Curry Lumber Co. as a timber cutter.
He is survived by three sons and their wives, Stanley and Lois Cottrell of Elizabeth and Larry and Darlene Cottrell and Jerry and Janice Cottrell, all of Palestine; two daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Gary Burnside and Geraldine and Arden Bailey, all of Elizabeth; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, John Wesley Cottrell of Elizabeth; and a sister, Cleo Lawson of Elizabeth.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ocie Parsons Cottrell; seven brothers; and one sister.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Busch-Kimes Funeral Home of Elizabeth, with Pastor William Cottrell officiating, while Bishop Jerry Cottrell and Pastor Jeff Cottrell assist. Burial will follow in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery, Elizabeth. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
