The Oldies Four Wheeler Club had a run that was based at the Creston Community Building. They reported that they like the Creston area.

There was more than the usual excitement in Creston Tuesday morning when a red car was seen in the middle of the river upstream from the bridge. It turned out that it was a '94 Grand Am that was reported stolen in Grantsville and was driven in the river up above the bridge on the road that goes to Island and Mile Runs. It had been seen in the area before it was reported stolen, even on the same road.

The Sassy Storekeeper had a bag of pears and a bag of nuts. One fellow was to get the pears and the other the nuts. The fellow who took the pears home was surprised to find a nice bag of nuts. He allowed that she didn't know the difference between the fruits and the nuts.

Beth Watson who had been having a series of strokes underwent surgery in a Cleveland hospital and it was reported that after installing a shunt she is much improved.

A number of area residents attended the Wirt County Farm Bureau dinner at the high school in Elizabeth. Bob Williams, Executive Secretary for the State Farm Bureau was the featured speaker and he gave a stirring talk on issues the Farm Bureau plans to address in the coming legislative session. He also discussed the ACLU (the 'civil liberties union') suit to overturn the election in Ritchie County that undid the DNR's planned Sunday hunting. As usual the palates were tickled by local cooks' delicacies, including [but not limited to] tasty turnips, delicious pickled corn, home made rolls, pumpkin & pineapple upside down cake, one of Helen Burns' crème pies, etc. Quota was met for 2003 and some new members were signed up for 2004.

They were planning on visiting her sister Edie up in Ohio.

Local residents (some of whom have been accused of being xenophobic) read with interest that the Moslem chaplains in the Army and especially those assigned to the terrorist holding facility at Gitmo were caught spying and that the ring leader high tailed it off to Syria with a wad of cash. Each day it should be more obvious that politically correct (PC) answers are wrong, wrong, wrong. The foam that came off the spacecraft that burned up was too hard and knocked a hole in the wing but it was PC and ordered used by Slick Willie, women were ordered into combat, etc.

Nancy and Jane Engelke returned from Atlanta where they were on a buying trip for Elizabeth Michaels in Parkersburg.
