Police are trying to determine the identity and cause of death of a body found
under Carpenter Bridge in St. Marys. The badly decomposed remains were found Saturday and sent to the State Medical Examiners Office. The case is being treated as a homicide. The remains were described as "skeletal." Fayette County authorities are also investigating the discovery of human remains. Sheriff Bill Laird says a hunter found a decomposed body on a hillside above US Route 60. The sheriff said it's too early to tell if the remains are male or female.
