Vergie Sands, 90, of Rosedale, Gilmer County, died October 16th at Jane Lew.
Born in Gilmer County, she was a daughter of the late J. D. McElwee and Ida Fitzpatrick McElwee. She was a homemaker and a member of the Rosedale Baptist Church
Surviving are two daughters, Doris Shepherd of Ohio and Marlene Linger of Jane Lew; two sons, Carroll Sands of Buckhannon and Bob Sands of Florida; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, and her Care-givers, Charlie, Sherri, Lori, and Jonie Sellers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harold Sands; 10 sisters and 1 brother.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 19 at Rosedale Baptist Church with Elders Roger Stewart and Larry Fisher officiating. Interment was in Rosedale Baptist Church Cemetery.
