Friday is America Day at Pleasant Hill School.

Last Friday Danielle Richards and Joseph Richards, second graders from Mrs. Propst's class, lead the school in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance over the intercom.

After 9-11 Friday was designated as America Day. Students from different classes lead the entire school in saying the pledge and everyone is encouraged to wear something with red, white and blue.

The focus is on patriotism every Friday, but students also share insights about the character education trait for the month. In September, it was RESPECT. This month it's RESPONSIBILITY. And during November and December the spotlight will be on CARING.

Joseph and Danielle shared some thoughts
about responsibility before leading the pledge

Danielle said, "Take care of your own matters. Don't rely on adults to remind you when you are supposed to be somewhere or bring something. You take the responsibility."

Joseph talked about trust and responsibility, saying, "Be trustworthy. If someone trusts you to borrow or take care of something, take care of it. Be someone people can count on."
