The dispatcher at Calhoun Control noticed he was getting chilly last night, as
members of the Calhoun ambulance squad tried to cook a little supper. The burner
kept going out on the cook stove.
911 dispatcher Joe Tanner said he started to get a little headache, and discovered
some raw gas was in the building.
"We're using a little electric heater, right now," said Tanner. "The squad is still
trying to figure out what's for supper."
In a tangled sequence of events, it seems a close neighbor of Calhoun Control had
pulled the gas regulator to the building and had hauled it away in the trunk of his
car.
State Trooper Jeff Hunt responded and a short time later discovered the missing
regulator, which was then returned to its site.
A gas company representative from Spencer was en-route to Mt. Zion just before
midnight to complete the repairs and check the building.
It was unclear what disposition was made with the "regulator man."
