Shaina Cain, Tiffani Jones, Bliss Masiarczyk and Sonja McKown have
been selected by
Calhoun High School to represent Calhoun County at Rhododendron Girls
State, part of a
national program sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.
Girls state is sponsored on the state level and will be held this year
from June 10th to 15th on
the campus of wheeling Jesuit University, Wheeling, WV.
Candidates are selected from the junior class on the basis of
leadership, moral character,
academic record, co-operation and dependability, community
participation and service.
Local sponsors are Calhoun Banks and Grantsville Lions Club, each
sponsoring two girls.
Shaina is the daughter of Daniel and Barbara Cain of Big Bend. Tiffani
is the daughter of
Teresa Sterns of Grantsville and Adam Jones of Big Springs. Bliss is
the daughter of Frank and
Linda Masiarczyk of Grantsville. Sonja is the daughter of Bradley and
Brenda McKown of Orma.
